Honouring the Outgoing Journey
Dying at Time of Choice
Nicole deeply respects your right to access the choices available to you under the Voluntary Assisted Dying legislation (VAD). She is passionate about supporting with care, personalisation and honouring this brave, autonomous, surreal and unique end of life pathway. Nicole enters with no judgement, joining you where you are at and open to authentic compassionate conversations about creating a safe space and after death care wishes and funerary plan. Discussing choices and options in this day and age where we think about what we want and then work to make it happen. From tributes, vigils and final departure from home. How to create a safe space where you can feel confident in making quality informed decisions and actions around your day.
With personal experience in VAD and a rich understanding in how to support after death holistic home care, she is here to support and assist you in planning for your end of life wishes and tangible dying time.
As a non medical professional in Victoria, she has the right to discuss and educate in all aspects of VAD.
Nicole invites you to join her in compassionate conversations with solos or families and she will enter with no judgement just a wealth of information, options and choices in what feels authentic and achievable.
Sometimes knowing what you don’t want is stronger than what you do want, so discussing cremation vs burial, or unwitnessed vs no service at all, are topics that can be explored and unpacked in line with the expected death timeline.
Nicole understands how difficult, overwhelming this expected death is for families and those accompanying their person. She is also mindful of the patient and their needs and wants and the dual feelings that come up when playing for ones death.
A VAD death leaves a different echo with those left behind, however it does not need to be anything other than memory making and heart felt when supported by true understanding and a holistic plan, that gives time and kindness to what can be a long battle.
Nicole Grundy is a member of Dying with Dignity Victoria and their VAD Peer End of Life Doula and since 2023 VAD Grief Group Peer Support Co-facilitator with Griefline offering national VAD specific grief groups for people who have accompanied a love one through VAD. Daughter to Fred, who availed himself of VAD in 2021.
Nicole brings lived experience and professional skills into this space. She joins you with an open heart and a wealth knowledge in holding this space.
